WHAT IS DLT REGISTRATION ?

TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has set new guidelines for the bulk SMS services industry by introducing DLT Registration (Distributed Ledger Technology), a blockchain-based registration system that maintains a record of all transactions by business entities. The sole purpose of the TRAI DLT Registration Process regulation is to Bring clarity, combat the threat of SMS spam, and protect consumers from fraud.

TRAI requires all companies sending bulk SMS (promotional or transactional or OTP) to their clients to register their business entity, sender ID and SMS template on the DLT Registration platform. DLT platforms are Airtel, V-Con, VIL, Jio and BSNL. Businesses must register by providing organization details.

Additionally, the new regulations promote a healthy and responsible business environment. 3- STEP DLT REGISTRATION PROCESS

STEP - 1

  • Entity/Enterprise
  • Registration
  • This process includes details of KYC documents like Entity PAN Card, GST Certificate, CIN, Authority Letter.
  • After Submitting DLT Registration Process Application your organization will get a unique Entity ID within 2 Working Days.

STEP - 2

  • Header (Sender ID)
  • Registration
  • SMS are categorized into Promotional, Transactional, Service Explicit,& Service Implicit.
  • Entities need to register all their headers on the platform. Every header gets a unique Header ID that is shared with other DLT Telecom platforms.

STEP - 3

  • Template
  • Registration
  • Entities are required to register their templates on the DLT Platform.
  • Once a template is created, the entity retains the template ownership across all DLT Platforms. Every Content Template should contain ‘Brand Name(s).
